Previously, dealers could use Facebook's automotive inventory ads to re-engage people who had visited their website or app. With this expansion, dealerships can now reach more potential customers who have expressed interest in purchasing a vehicle online.

Here's how the ads work: let's say someone is researching and comparing vehicles across several car and dealership sites. Automotive inventory ads allow dealers to upload their car inventory with details such as make, model, year and location. We then automatically generate tailored ads that show the most relevant vehicles to the right audiences, such as people who have visited a car-related Facebook Page, but have not yet visited the dealership's website.

Brands testing automotive inventory ads are already seeing strong results. Lexus Santa Monica used automotive inventory ads to reach local auto buyers, driving 3.2X more vehicle detail page (VDP) views and 3X lower cost per VDP view compared to previous prospecting campaigns with the same budget. Another dealership, Castle Chevrolet, saw a 27% increase in reach using this new solution, compared to a prospecting conversion campaign using lookalike audiences.

People can opt out of any automotive inventory ad they see by clicking on the upper right-hand corner of an ad. As with all advertising on Facebook, auto advertisers can reach customers without learning personal information about them.
