Amplifying Black-Owned Businesses and Black Entrepreneurs

Facebook Business

From the early days of the pandemic, we’ve been listening to small businesses and working to invest in ways we can help them weather the storm. We’ve placed a particular emphasis on investing and building tools to help amplify minority-owned businesses on our platform, who are among the hardest hit during this crisis.

Today we’re providing an update on our ongoing commitments to support the Black community and introducing new ways people can support Black-owned businesses on our platforms. Now, businesses that are primarily minority-owned will have the ability to designate as such, and Black-owned businesses will be featured in Facebook’s Businesses Nearby to help people discover, message or shop with them. We’re starting with Black-owned businesses, given the most urgent need, but we plan to expand to include more types of diverse businesses and other points of discovery in the coming months.

In June we announced that we’re doubling our initial $100 million small business grant program with an additional $100 million investment to support Black-owned businesses, creators and non-profits in the US. Starting today any majority Black-owned business in the US with 1-50 employees can apply for a grant, which will dedicate $40 million of the $100 million program to about 10,000 businesses across the US. Visit Facebook.com/blackbusinessgrants to see whether your business is eligible for the program and to learn how to apply.
